The Dynamics of Representative Democracy
|
Democracy is a word that derives its concept from the Greek word "demokratia" which in itself means government of the people, by the people and for the people. The Greek word "demos" means any of the following: municipality, city, township, borough, district, the public, while kratos" (kratia) means the state, rule, dominion. The combination of the two words (demos+kratos/ia), "demokratia" simply means government (rule) by the people. It is of course 'apriori' that the people constitute the "demo".
