» The Statue of Liberty
By Brenda Farrar-Ejemai | Published 06/15/2010 | American Politics | Unrated

It is hard to believe that after my many years of schooling (secondary and post) the following facts about the Statue of Liberty were never taught. Hundreds of thousands (if not millions) of people including myself have visited the Statue of Liberty over the years yet I'm unable to find one person who knows the true history behind the Statue...amazing!

» Obama Recast And Refocused To Recapture Direction And Legacy
By Paul Adujie | Published 01/28/2010 | American Politics | Unrated

I find quite out of sync with Mr. Obama pronouncement and practice, the fact that he has no policy on Nigeria beyond the current infantile snub and slap, in which he denied Nigeria the “reward” of a stop-over “visit” for a few hours in July 2009, an act widely interpreted as a snub, and his recent placement of Nigeria on a terrorism watch list, which again, is widely seen as a slap and muscling attempt directed at Nigeria. These two acts are only capable of eliciting frowns, discomforts and even antagonism, not partnership and cooperation.

» Consolidating and Sustaining African Peace And Security: Issues and Perspectives
By Kayode Oladele | Published 10/9/2009 | American Politics | Unrated
By any standard, the last two decades have brought in a new perspective into conflict resolution, mediation, peace - building, peace - keeping, peace-building, peace-enforcement and preventive diplomacy in Africa. Hitherto, and until very recently, the African Union’s (AU)Commission on Mediation, Arbitration and Reconciliation, which is one of the principal organs of the Commission established to maintain and keep peace and security in the region was dormant
» PRESIDENT OBAMA, "Yes We Can!
By George Onuorah | Published 06/5/2008 | American Politics | Rating:
Democratic primary voters have spoken very loud and clear, Sen. Barack Obama is the man for the presidency of the United States and has a decent chance to eclipse Sen. John McCain in november. Victory is on the horizon, and our time has come. "Yes, We Can." Consider the fact that never again can person any person of color feel inferior in a nation where the declaration of independence and the American Constitution of 1776 states unequivocally that all men are created equal.
» As America Browns
By Ikhide Ikheloa | Published 02/17/2008 | American Politics | Unrated
I probably should leave this Obama business alone because the rush of feelings that assaults me simply exhausts me. What this season has shown me is that for good or for bad I am not the same person that left Nigeria over two and a half decades ago. America has changed me. And it has not been all for the good. My homeland Nigeria taught me to walk into a room as if I own it. America , on the other hand, tries daily to force-feed me the notion that I must be grateful to her for simply allowing me to breathe its air.
