PERSONALITY IS DETERMINED BY GENES
Since my graduate school days I have observed children; I observed them from the moment that they are born to when they become adults. What I found is that their personality types are the same from the moment of birth to adulthood. The idea that society determines personality is not based on empirical observation. Apparently, sociologists and social psychologists observed that society, more or less, tells people what to do and from that observation made the deductive inference that society determines people’s personalities. Personality is determined in the womb and is written in the individual’s genes.

ALAIGBO, THE NEXT SOMALIA?
This piece is in response to the high incidence of criminal activity in Alaigbo; it says that civilization is skin deep in Alaigbo and that if left alone Igbos would behave like lawless folk; it calls for a period where Igbos are subjected to iron fisted rule of law and forced to respect human dignity and care for one another.

BARACK OBAMA AND THE POLITICS OF CYNICISM
This essay says that Barack Obama is the typical American politician who practices the politics of cynicism, telling the people one thing and doing another; it says that, as such, we must evaluate him as we evaluate other cynical politicians and not allow ourselves to be beguiled by what on the surface seems his well meaning political idealism. This man has disappointed those who naively believed that he is a different breed of politician.

This piece tries to understand why despite what would seem to make them feel like they are insignificant, the human body, to the contrary human beings feel like they are special. It says that pride in the ego and its body is a futile effort to make that which is nothing seem like it is something important. Human grandeur, it says, lies in spirit not in ego and body.

IGBOS AUTHORITARIAN PERSONALITY
Extrapolating from my interactions with Igbos I came to the sad conclusion that many of them admire the powerful and have contempt for the weak. This means that they have authoritarian personality structures and would always follow those leaders who seem powerful. Igbos authoritarianism is probably rooted in Igbo culture, a culture that bids Igbos to admire the powerful and ignore the weak. Obviously, this is not a recipe for real democracy, for in a democracy we must respect the weak and powerful and vote for folks regardless of how powerful they seem to be. Igbos are likely to follow dictators rather than vote for good leaders.

IS CRIMINALITY INHERITED?
This essay says that what constitutes criminal behavior is socially defined and not self evident in nature. Animals do take from nature regardless of what human beings call property rights. In so far that criminality is in genes it is in all human beings genes but some human beings are more socially trained to respect other persons’ rights. What serves society well is seeking ways to train all persons to be pro-social in their behaviors rather than waste time talking probable racism motivated talk about who inherited more criminal genes than others.

MENTAL HEALTH, PEACE AND HAPPINESS
This paper points out ways to obtain mental health, peace and happiness. It says that the individual must understand his self concept, personality and how it came into being by looking at the biological, sociological, existential, metaphysical and cognitive factors that contribute to it and eventually make a decision to accept his real self, a loving self, and desist from any desire to be an ideal self. Pursuit of ideal self disturbs ones peace and happiness.
