MICHAEL JACKSON: 'THE MAN IN THE MIRROR'

The death of Michael Jackson at the age of 50 years came to the entire world as a shock. He could have turned 51 in August 2009. His neighbors trooped into the Hospital where he was taken to with disbelieve that the Man Died.

Preliminary autopsy ruled out any foul play. Many theories have been flying about his death which informed Rev. Jesse Jackson and his family to request for a second autopsy to be performed on his body. The 911 tape released indicated that he might have been dead before the caller got through to 911 operator. The caller responded to a question from 911 Operator that Michael was not breathing.

Regardless how he died, the man has made mark in the music industry. He was an icon, a legend, in the entertainment industry. Nothing could take away his massive contributions to the entertainment world, incomparable to any artist ever. Michael Jackson's music cut across all races, nations, and it does not matter if you are black or white, pink or yellow, red or green, old or young, male or female. Michael's music touched every single human being life and his message was and still very consequential.

As some people would love his songs; so also some would like to watch his 'boneless' body move around the stage like a reptile; his electric moves; some lovers would like his voice get them to sleep at night; while his smile would heal any sick patient in the Hospital; and his life style would make true religious groups want to evangelize for the rest of their life.

He sold millions of his albums all over the world. One of his songs that touch my heart so much is the "The Man in the Mirror", to take a look at himself and make change. That song is enough for the mourners, especially the world leaders, to take a strong look at themselves and make that change for good.

"Man In The Mirror"

I'm starting with the man in the mirror
I'm asking him to change his ways
And no message could have been any clearer
If you want to make the world a better place
Take a look at yourself and then make a change, yey
Na na na, na na na, na na na na oh ho

'The Man in the Mirror', are you going to change?

In the beginning God created Heaven and Earth, and God made man in His own image to manage the entire world. God was disappointed when human race disobeyed Him by touching the forbidden fruit. God in His mercy continue to fend for His children, and human beings continue to take advantage of God's mercy.

Since then, man's four-day journey had been changed to decades to reach the final destination. We continue to work against God's wishes for humanity. Hence the incessant fight among humanity, races, and nations. Would there be peace in this world anytime soon?

Michael Jackson, in his painful tone, asked 'the Man in the Mirror' to take a look at himself and change. Who is yielding to the lonely cry of Michael Jackson in the wilderness? Are the leaders listening at all? Instead of peace the world has been turned into war zones. Violence, destruction, killings, have taken over the entire universe, unfortunately many people are dying of hunger in the land of plenty.

How many current leaders would comfortably say that "I'm Gonna Make A Change, For Once In My Life, It's Gonna Feel Real Good, Gonna Make A Difference, Gonna Make It Right . . ."? That is the first segment of that song that captures my attention as the demise of Michael Jackson was announced to the entire world.

Watching 'The Man In The Mirror' video again, emotions ran through my veins as to why some leaders have decided to PUNISH their fellow human beings without any passion on their responsibilities.

If we may ask again 'The Man in the Mirror', would there be peace in this world, EVER?

The entire world has been plagued with famine, nuclear war, injustices, and unrepentant attitude of some leaders who are the captains of the world ship, cumulated with unemployment, poor housing, and wars among others. The culture of each world leader dictates their mode of dressing, the popular coat or suit, either French, English, or Oriental, the flowing Agbada of the African descents; Michael Jackson would add, "As I, Turn Up The Collar On My Favorite Winter Coat. This Wind Is Blowin' My Mind. I See The Kids In The Street, With Not Enough To Eat." Where are the leaders' moral justifications for creating such a dangerous atmosphere for the people of God?

There is no way by which anyone would think better in a public shelter except for better accommodation for members of his family. A failed government refuses to provide the human essentials for humanity.

What partially contribute to lack of shelter in any community are mainly wars which lead to famine. Wars displace the community, running away from war zones and have to find a new place they could settle. All their life essentials are gone with the war. Resettling in a new environment does not come that easy. Hence hunger creeps into their life in their new shelter homes.

Haba! Should there be hunger in any part of the world, if we may ask 'The Man in the Mirror'? In the land of plenty, where God has endowed the world with arable lands, people are still without food. Who is that leader that goes without food on a daily basis? Some or most of them are pregnant with guiltiness of mismanaging the resources at their disposal to the point that these children are found with no food. 'The man in the Mirror' please, take a look at yourself and make a change.

There is no justification for any leader to allow any of his subjects to go without food. Food is the energy that sustains human beings. The land is in abundance to cultivate and make food available to the entire human race. Any government or leader that falls within the production of food for their citizens would get abundant blessings from God.

It takes a leader to make the resources availabile to the benefit of humanity. That is one of the messages of Michael Jackson for any leader while mourning his demise. Making the food items available for the people is something a good leader should work on.

Ironically, some leaders have been unsighted with their temporary power and some decided to perpetually remain in power for ever and die in the process. Michael Jackson says,

"Who Am I, To Be Blind? Pretending Not To See Their Needs. A Summer's Disregard, A Broken Bottle Top, And A One Man's Soul. They Follow Each Other On The Wind Ya' Know 'Cause They Got Nowhere To Go That's Why I Want You To Know".
Let there be change to make the world a better place.

Once again

"I'm Starting With The Man In The Mirror I'm Asking Him To Change His Ways And No Message Could Have Been Any Clearer If You Wanna Make The World A Better Place. Take A Look At Yourself, And Then Make A Change".

Leaders in Africa, Asia, Europe, or in any parts of the world, why the Nuclear race, why not the race to feed the entire world? There are so many victims of poor governance.

"I've Been A Victim Of A Selfish Kind Of Love It's Time That I Realize That There Are Some With No Home, Not A Nickel To Loan. Could It Be Really Me, Pretending That They're Not Alone? A Willow Deeply Scarred, Somebody's Broken Heart And A Washed-Out Dream. They Follow the Pattern of the Wind, Ya' See Cause They Got No Place To Be That's Why I'm Starting With Me".
Search your soul and conscience, take a critical look at yourself in the mirror and make a change.

Before any change could be made in anywhere, the one who is ready to make a change must start by making the change within and allow the world to see that change. Possibly take a look at the mirror and see himself.

That Mirror is the person you are supposed to take care of; those with no means of livelihood, no shelter, no food and lack of job. Start with yourself by making the changes to make the world a better place. You are the man in the Mirror that should change your ways, no message would be clearer if you want to make the world a better place, take a proper look at yourself, if you have conscience, then make that change.

Ironically that man in the mirror has closed his heart and mind, where is the change going to come.

"That Man, That Man, That Man, With that Man in the Mirror, Man in the Mirror, Oh Yeah, I'm asking him to Change his ways, Better Change. You know… that man no message could have been clearer if you wanna make the world a better place if you wanna make the world a better place, take a look at yourself and make a change…."

When you get it right during the time of your leadership, when you close your Heart, you cannot close your mind when you open up your mind and the challenges of life, you "Gonna Feel Real Good Now!" And you could say that "I'm Gonna Make A Change". There and then

"It's Gonna Feel Real Good! Come On! (Change . . .). Just Lift Yourself You Know You've Got To Stop It. Yourself! (Yeah!-Make That Change!)".

You can promise that

"I've Got To Make That Change, Today!" And "You Got To Move! Come On! Come On! You Got To . . . Stand Up! Stand Up! Stand Up! (Yeah-Make That Change). Stand Up And Lift Yourself, Now! (Man In The Mirror) Hoo! Hoo! Hoo! Aaow! (Yeah-Make That Change) Gonna Make That Change . . .Come On! (Man In The Mirror) You Know It! You Know It! You Know It! You Know . . . (Change . . .) Make That Change."

I believe if really you sympathize with the demise of Michael Jackson, I don't mean those that sworn into órisanla in the performance of their not too humanitarian services to the community should join the entire world to sing this song: "Man In The Mirror".

The man in the Mirror where art thou thy HEART, that you put the world through this challenge. When you smile at the mirror, are the rest of your subjects smiling at their life. What have been the challenges that impede their smiling faces? "The man in the mirror, we need a better world, make the change, nana nana nana naaaaaaaaaaaaa, oh noooooooooooo." Oh yes, we can make the world a better place if we change so Michael Jackson would rest well in the Lord.

A friend sent this to me in memory of Michael Jackson:
"MJ has "Beat it"!! Our feelings are "Off the Wall"; and it didn't matter if he was "Black and White". To some he was a "Smooth Criminal" and that made him feel sad about "The Man in the Mirror", and this side of "Human Nature" made him cry "Leave Me Alone". Bust as "Dirty Diana" and "Billie Jean" said, he was "Bad", he was "Dangerous" but he gave us a "Thriller" of a time. He may have preferred "Ben" to a "Liberian Girl" we may never know since he tried to "Keep it in the Closet". This is my tribute to the man I said to "I just can't stop loving you" no matter what. We "Pretty Young Things" are crying in heaven where he'll continue to "Rock with you" for eternity. MJ rest in peace!!!"

Michael Jackson, sleep well!
